Adam and Jane BT Commercials
There was a series of famous BT adverts starring a fictional couple named Jane and Adam. They ran in the early 2000’s. They were recurring ads where the couple’s relationship developed. There was one commercial that was added late in the run after the couple were married.
The commercial showed the two of them on a gameshow. Adam
was competing against another husband. The loser’s wife was to get covered in
mess. Jane and the other woman were sat under giant messy balloons. It was very
similar to Splatterjack only without the pump part. Jane and the other woman
looked very nervous.
Because it was a BT commercial, they had to make reference to telephones and internet. Adam was shown taking a phone a friend option for answering a question. Unfortunately, when Adam made the call, it dropped and the time ran out. Jane rolled her eyes. She looked very annoyed. Her nostrils flared. Then she panicked, looking up as the gunge above her popped.
In an instant, the gunge dumped down upon her. Adam shrugged his shoulders. Jane glared at him with gunge dripping from her face and hair as well as all over her body. He knew that he was in trouble when they got home. He was going to get a real earful for some time afterwards. The voiceover said not to leave communication to chance and to inferior networks.
The next commercial would show Jane being annoyed with Adam
and giving him the silent treatment. That commercial was also referred to the
fact that the pictures and video of her messing were being shared by everyone
that she knew. This made her even more annoyed. The picture of her covered in
mess, glaring and rolling her eyes would be liked by everyone that she knew.
