Lucy Ricketts short story

Lucy Ricketts short story

Lucy Ricketts was a jeopardy contestant. She was champion for numerous shows. She was a bit geeky with glasses and long brown hair. She was one of the better champions that they had. They were running a special tournament of champions. She made it to the finals. It was agreed that the person who finished last would agree to take a messing for charity. Lucy was hoping that she did not finish last. She kept looking up at the tank of what appeared to be beef stew that loomed over her head. If she finished last, she would be wearing it. This could get very embarrassing for her if she finished last.

The game was a close one. The three contestants were all champions. They were all extremely strong competitors. The game was neck in neck heading into final jeopardy. Lucy was in second, but was some distance from the person in first. The person who was in last got the question wrong, but their wager left them with $500. Lucy was next. She risked everything. Her answer too was incorrect. She was left with zero. The person in the lead was wrong but did not risk very much, so ended in first place. Everyone realized that Lucy had finished in last place.

Lucy was not given even a moment to react. As soon as they announced the winner and stated that Lucy had finished last, the beef stew mess began to dump down upon her. She looked up as it began to plummet down all over her face. It was thick and brown. It was filled with meat, carrots, peas, sweet corn and green beans in a thick brown gravy.

It poured down onto her face and all over her hair and onto her glasses. She was humiliated as the brown glop poured down her neck and down onto her body. It splashed all over the podium. The other contestants ducked out of the way. Lucy could only stand in shock as she had the stew dropped all over her. Her glasses were streaked in brown gravy. Bits of meat and vegetables stuck to her face and to her clothing. She took a deep breath as was completely engulfed in the stew.

The host then thanked Lucy and said that the messing would mean that tons of money would be going to charity. Lucy sarcastically gave two thumbs up. She was a very shy, nerdy person. The messing left her totally mortified.
