Julie Bowen Modern messing

Julie Bowen Modern messing

Julie Bowen plays Claire on Modern Family. It is a comedy show and Julie always enjoys being funny and getting laughs. She often looks silly on the show. She doesn’t normally mind if the laughs come at her expense. A big aspect of Julie’s role on the show was that of embarrassing Mom to her children on the show. On one episode of the show, her children got their own back on her in a major way. Of course, the actors who played her kids on the show were also going to enjoy embarrassing their tv Mom just the same.

The scene was set at a school dance. Claire is a chaperone at the dance. She tries to dance, but her dancing is dated and embarrassing for her children. She also attempts to nudge other students into relationships, trying to interfere in everyone’s life. Everyone was getting sick and tired of her antics. They all decided that they would set her up and teach her a lesson. They decided that they were going to put the food that was set up on tables at the side of the gym to good use.

Claire was busy dancing away badly next to the refreshments tables. Her daughter got up on the stage. She took the microphone. “Hi everyone. I hope that you are having a great time. I wanted to take this time to say a special thank you to my Mom for being such a great chaperone. Can she please join me up here on stage?” Claire pointed to herself and acted touched, a bit choked up as she walked up on stage to join her daughter. “Let’s hear it for her,” her daughter said. Everyone applauded. “Now, We all thought that, because you have had such an impact on the night, that you should receive a little “reward” for your efforts.” Claire’s eyes lit up. She held her hand to her chest. She felt honoured. Her brother came forward from behind carrying something.

“On behalf of everyone here, this is for you Mom,” she said. Claire turned around in expectation, as she did her offspring thrust a large sheet cake straight into her face. It was very large and very deep and covered in multi-coloured creamy icing. They lifted it in the air and pushed it into their Mom’s face.  The auditorium instantly filled with echoing laughter. Claire was stunned. Her face and body were instantly covered in cake and icing. She was shocked. Her mouth was wide open and her eyes were wide. She was silent in her shock. Her hands in front of her, covered in remains of thick cake. Her reaction was comical. She looked out at the auditorium and saw an ocean of laughing teenagers holding up cell phones, taking photos of her embarrassment. Her kids looked at each other and smiled.

Her other daughter then came up from behind and dumped a gigantic bowl of trifle over her head. The bowl was large and clear and in sort of a flower shape. She pushed it downwards onto her mother’s head, pushing the sloppy desert down onto her head. The jelly, custard and cream oozed down Claire’s face. Her daughter playfully tapped the top of the bowl with her hand. She crossed her arms and laughed, leaving the bowl in place on top of Claire’s head for a moment. She rolled her eyes, crossed her arms and shook her head with annoyance. Bits of trifle rolled down her face and chest. “This is not funny,” she said, pointing out at the crowd,” Stop laughing.”

Her offspring then produced a large bowl of prawn cocktail. It was bright orange, very thick and incredibly sloppy. Claire’s daughter tapped her on the shoulder. Without thinking, she turned around, out of pure instinct. As she turned around, her two daughters pushed the prawn cocktail into her. It knocked the other bowl from her head and nearly knocked her off of her feet. They pushed the orange mess into their mother’s face and body, dumping it all over her in the process. The orange mess fell down her face and body. It left an orange tinge on her blonde hair.

Her son then shook up some aerosol containers of whipped cream. He put his hand onto Claire’s shoulder and spun her around. He then began to spray her with them, all over her face and body. She raised her hands in the air in an attempt to deflect some of the cream. She closed her eyes and screamed loudly as he generously sprayed her with the whipped cream. It looked as though she had been sprayed with a fire extinguisher.

The girls then brought up the rest of the leftovers from the food table at the dance. It was mainly things like sandwiches, tuna fish, coleslaw, salad,  sausage rolls, potato salad and condiments as well as leftover lunch meat. They quickly pushed everything into one gigantic bowl and brought it up for their Mom. “Thanks so much Mom for embarrassing everyone and making a show of yourself. Good job,” one of her daughters said. They raised the bowl in the air and dumped the contents all over Claire’s head.  Her mouth was wide open. She screamed as the mess poured down over her head. It seemed to go on forever. Bits of all sorts of food including whole sandwiches rained down on her in a torrent of uneaten food. This was about as embarrassing as it could possibly get.  Claire pouted as the food dumped down all over her. Bits of bologna stuck to her face. Bits of the various foods stuck all over her face and dress. She gritted her teeth and kept her arms crossed. “Well done Mom,” her daughter said.

She looked at her children with a look that could have killed. She then stormed off. She attempted to clean herself off in the school bathroom, but all it had in it was a small sink, so it did very little good when trying to remove such a large amount of mess.

The next scene showed her entering her house. Her husband was there. She was still half covered in the mess from the dance. She looked very annoyed. She stormed through the door. “What happened to you?,” her husband asked. “Don’t even ask,” she said angrily as she stormed up the stairs to the bathroom to clean off.

When the taping was over Julie smiled and bowed. She knew how funny the scene would play on television and she knew that her character deserved it. “I really had it coming,” she joked. Of course, her fellow actors enjoyed seeing this happen to her immensely. “Sorry Julie,” her tv son said to her. “ Come on now,” she replied,” You loved every minute of that, don’t lie. I’m sure it was so hard for you to get me all messy,” she said sarcastically. “I bet you were really heartbroken about the whole thing. Don’t worry, it was really fun in the end,” she said.
