Glenda Farrell mystery of the slime sorcerer part 1

Glenda Farrell mystery of the slime sorcerer part 1

Glenda Farrell starred in Mystery at the wax museum. It was a forerunner to House of Wax. It was a similar story. Glenda played a reporter that was investigating the case. She was wisecracking and very smart mouthed indeed. It was a pre Hayes code movie, so they did a lot of things that they would not have gotten away with later on. There really was no denying how sexy she was in the film. She had an amazing amount of charisma and just popped off of the screen. The outfits that she wore were incredible as well. They weren’t revealing, but they were extremely stylish and sexy in their own way. It was actually surprising that she did not become a bigger star at the time.

In the film, it was discovered that the bad guy was preserving people’s bodies by covering them in liquid wax. An idea was hatched for a similar plot to be used in a sequel. This time the criminal would not cover his victims in wax but on slime. It wouldn’t kill them, it would just subdue them while he escaped the scene of the crime. The criminal was kind of like a Batman or Dick Tracy sort of villain which fit right into the 1930’s style of the film. They called him the slime sorcerer.

Of course, as was normally the case in most of these types of films, the police were both sceptical and clueless about the crimes and what was really going on. Glenda’s character, as the feisty reported that she was, would have to go out and solve the case on her own. She was determined to foil this hideous villain. He was another Vincent Price kind of character and wore a dark hat and capes as the villain at the wax museum had. They made sure to keep his identity a mystery though as a way to build the suspense.

Glenda’s character spent a long time hiding in the shadows and looking for clues. She was always a little too late to the crime scene. Several beautiful ladies had now ended up covered in sloppy slime. “13 Dames in this town have ended up covered in icky slime in the past month. I want to get to the bottom of this caper. The creep who is doing this has to be brought to justice. This guy is a weirdo. He commits his crime and then slimes the witnesses. It seems to make them forget what they have seen temporarily. I wonder where he gets that stuff and so much of it. It’s a real head scratcher,” she told the paper editor.

She looked for a pattern in the crimes that he committed and found that the crimes all seemed to be in places that lead from one to another. She looked at this and believed that he would next strike at a local museum. All of the other crime scenes pointed right to this. There was a large jewel that was being displayed in the museum as a special exhibit. She was sure that the slime sorcerer would attempt to steal this priceless jewel. She went ahead and hid behind some platforms overlooking the jewel exhibit. She got her camera ready and was ready for the sorcerer to appear.

She waited for a very long time. So long, in fact, that she began to doze off. Of course, just when she began to fall asleep she heard a noise. She quietly leaned forward to see what was happening. Someone was approaching. They crept into the room, looking at the jewel. She smiled to herself, seeing this, knowing that it had to be the slime sorcerer himself. She crouched over and snapped a photo as he was about to grab the jewel. As she crouched, she leaned over too far and fell over a bit. The sorcerer turned around.

She was now on the floor a bit. She did manage to hide her camera, so he could not see it. He then quickly turned around and cackled. “Oh hi. Fancy seeing you here,” she quipped. He then let out a large growl and thrust forward. What happened next was not exactly shown, but the scene cut away. Glena was next shown on the floor of the museum completely covered in sloppy, viscous green slime. Her body and clothing were soaked from head to toe in slime as was her lovely blonde ringlets. A security guard was trying to assist her. “What happened?,” he asked. “I, I don’t really remember. I was trying to stop a criminal from stealing the jewel and then it all goes a bit blank after that.” “Well, we found this camera, there are several photos on it that have been taken.” “Aha! That’s it, it managed to snap a few photos of him. Maybe this will reveal his identity or at least prove that I am not crazy. Hey, wait a minute, what is this stuff all over me?” “I don’t know miss, it must have been the thief.” She splashed around in the slime and made a disgusted look. “Eww, it’s so revolting and I’m covered in it. I better sort myself out.” “Well, I am really sorry miss, but the police are going to have a few questions. You are breaking and entering and you may be the prime suspect in the robbery. How do they know that you weren’t working with the thief?” She rolled her eyes and sighed.

She was next shown being bailed out of jail by her editor. He was annoyed, but she explained to him that she had proof of who the thief was. She had some pictures on her camera. Hopefully, they would shed some light on the subject.
